Come for the Films, Stay for the Food

We’ve got big parties for everyone, but also smaller, more intimate receptions attached to individual films. The following programs come with not only an incredible film experience, but also food or drink!

Thursday, Oct. 20: After the 7:00pm screening of ALMOST PERFECT, hang out with the cast and crew at Maria Maria Restaurant from 9pm to 1am. Appetizers and hosted bar.

Friday, Oct. 21: For QUEERS ON THE VERGE ticketholders, beer and wine will flow in the theater lobby after the 7:30pm screening.

Sunday, Oct. 23: The music doesn’t end after the 7:00pm screening of SURROGATE VALENTINE. Head over to the Hard Rock Cafe to hear the film’s star Goh Nakamura perform at the 9pm reception.

Monday, Oct. 24: Come by Maria Maria Restaurant (South Patio) from 5:30-7:00pm for happy hour with director Patrick Wang of IN THE FAMILY, which plays immediately after, at 7:15pm.

Tuesday, Oct. 25: Free food and free movie? Join us for food and pastries in the UltraStar theater lobby starting at 5:30pm and leading up to the free 7:30pm screening of Hou Hsiao-hsien’s legendary 1989 film A CITY OF SADNESS.

Wednesday, Oct. 26: You’ll be so hungry after the dumpling film OXHIDE II (8pm, The Loft in UCSD) that you’ll need food. Luckily it will be provided, free, courtesy of Del Mar Rendezvous.

Friday, Oct. 28: What better way to end JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI — and the 12th edition of SDAFF — than with sushi and sake? Come celebrate with us at 9pm at the Randy Jones All American Grill.
